In the morning in Tokyo, the dollar was weak and the yen was weak. As European time approaches, the yen appreciates across the board and the dollar depreciates. From Europe to London, the yen appreciated against the dollar across the board. From Europe to the close in New York, the yen appreciated against the dollar across the board.

The dollar weakened throughout the day.

The daily balance changed to 158.35 USD/JPY selling, and we moved to an overnight position.

Yen will appreciate across the board due to Bloomberg report.

Minister Kono appeared on Bloomberg Television on the 17th and emphasized issues such as the impact of the rapid depreciation of the yen on domestic prices. Kono said a weaker yen would lead to increased exports, but the benefits for Japan would be limited as many Japanese companies have production bases overseas.

"Forex is a problem for Japan," Kono said, adding, "The yen is too cheap. We need to restore its value." He called on the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates to strengthen the value of the yen and lower the cost of energy and food.
