【Hedged Loss with a Netting Position】I couldn’t navigate well at the time
| First, could you tell us about the failures you experienced, O-San? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
| In the early days, I experienced a common mistake that many traders have: once I entered, the price moved against me. |
O-San, that was also you, right? Among them, what was your biggest mistake in your trading life? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
Yes. The biggest mistake was “hedged positions.” At most, losses swelled up to 1.3 million yen. |

| O-San |
| Indeed. At first I thought, “this will work.” But the market often moves opposite to my expectations, and losses kept increasing... Eventually, when it dropped to 700,000 yen, I decided to cut. |
| That must have been quite tough, right? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
Yes, I think there are people who can effectively unwind positions and adjust lot sizes, but at that time I couldn’t perform such skilled maneuvers and ended up with large unrealized losses. I didn’t know how to turn a profit. |
| What did you learn from this failure? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
| In my case, I realized that “holding a position and cutting losses when it’s no good” brings psychological stability. |

【What Trading Is: Probabilities and Expectation】The reasons and beliefs that led me to scalping
| What was the reason you ended up with scalping from there? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
| Staying in long positions made me emotionally unstable. It didn’t suit me to always be watching the chart. |
| So was short-term trading better? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
Yes.A style where you don’t hold positions when you can’t view the chartsuited me well. Also, since I’m not in the market long, I can reduce risk. |
| Some people say long-term charts are more advantageous socially? |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
In my view, “probabilities and expectancy” are what matter in trading. From years of analysis and actual trading results, in the long and short term, it ultimately comes down to“probability and expectancy”not changing. Therefore I’ve focused on a short-term approach that fits me best. |
| I see, choosing scalping from both theory and practice. |
| Gogo-nyan |
| O-San |
| Yes, it’s a style I verified for myself and am convinced of. |
