Trade Records are the Transfer Document to Your Future Self
Receive the lessons left by your past self and move forward without stepping in the same ruts.
This is the final episode of Series 4.
Across these 12 articles, we have explained trade records and reflections. From the importance of recording, the difference from a results memo, analysis of wins, recording emotions, discovering loss patterns, to the attitude of verification—looking at recording from many angles, we have examined the practice of recording.
What I want to convey last is the essence of trade records.Trade records are the handover document to your future self. The records you write today are important messages that your tomorrow, next week, and next month will read and refer to.
With a Handover Document, You Do Not Have to Start from Zero
When handing over work at a company, having a handover document from the predecessor allows you to start smoothly. "This task proceeds this way," "Be careful here because mistakes are likely"—thanks to such handovers, the successor can avoid the same mistakes.
Trade records serve the same exact role. The records left by your past self are the handover document to your future self. "In this situation, I entered like this and won," "Be careful with the impatience after a losing streak"—by receiving the lessons of your past self, your future self does not have to start from zero.
Without records, you start from zero every time. You experience the same mistakes again and again from scratch. But with a handover document, you can build new learnings on top of past ones. This difference decisively changes the speed of your growth.
