#42 Boxed-out EA, suddenly completed
From May, over a two-month period, the “box breakout” EA that I have suffered with
suddenly has been completed. LOL
How many times did I change the logic! (´д`;)
Among the four works so far, this was the most painful.
1st: The Shaving-Mirror Method
This was quite painful.
2nd: The Cross-Line Method
Compared to the 1st, this wasn’t so bad.
However, I was able to create a very safe EA.
3rd: The Trend All-In Method
This was a real struggle! (×_×)
I thought, “With this simple logic, it should be easy to make…”
Yet, in terms of safety and profitability, it achieved the best results ever!
4th: The Box-Break Method
This was the most painful ever! ()´д`()
Also a simple logic, though…
Some things that are easy to do manually become very hard to automate as an EA.
Fundamental Logic Change
The box part of the candlesticks…
To explain to programmers:
It’s from the candlestick.open to candlestick.close.
This will inevitably be broken.
Therefore,
“If you wait above and below the rectangle, there will be no future pass through there.”
That’s the idea.
Pretty simple, right? LOL
So I thought it could be turned into an EA right away, but it wasn’t so easy. (´□`川)
No matter how many times I redid it, it didn’t work,
so I reframed the candlestick not as individual candles, but as a cluster of candles treated as a “box.”
Nevertheless, this is not a method that is easily preyed upon by whales in ranges or breaks.
Note: If you don’t know what a “whale” is, search for “FX whale.”
When I redesigned the program with this idea, the results were immediately good.
Statistical evaluation of backtest results
Trade frequency and win rate:
Over three years, the total number of trades was 262, averaging about 1 trade every 4.1 days.
Overall win rate is 27.10% (71 wins, 191 losses).
With this win rate, you won’t get picked off by brokers.
Profit/Loss ratio (risk-reward):
Average winning trade is 29.76, while average losing trade is -5.41.
Profitability:
From an initial margin of 666 USD, the total net profit is 1,080.08 USD.
Average annual profit is about 360 USD (about 54% annualized).
On the drawdown and capital resilience:
The maximum drawdown is 239.15 (14.08%).
Also, the maximum consecutive losses are 12 (loss amount -31.16).
… So, once the listing work is finished, I’ll go back to a long period of reading. LOL

Next time:
I’ve thought up the logic for EA第5弾 (the fifth). Or maybe I’ll say so. wink
